For clients with NDIS funding, there are maximum rates that need to be considered when you set your rates on Mable.
Click here for information on the current NDIS cap rates.
All clients using Mable pay the agreed rate plus 5%. For example, if you charge $30 an hour, the client will be charged $31.50 an hour. This needs to be taken into consideration to ensure the total hourly cost of support (your agreed rate plus 5%) do not exceed the capped rates set by the NDIS.
How to calculate your maximum fee:
NDIS cap rate ÷ 1.05 = the maximum you can charge
Here’s an example:
If you would like to charge the NDIS cap rate for “Assistance with self-care activities during daytime weekdays” the listed NDIS cap rate for this service in NSW as at 31/7/19 is $52.83 an hour
If this is what you would like to charge you will then need to make sure the total hourly cost of support (your agreed rate per hour plus 5%) does not exceed $52.83.
Here’s how to calculate the maximum you can charge using the equation above:
$52.83 (NDIS cap rate) ÷ 1.05 = $50.31 (maximum you can charge)
In this case the maximum you could charge is $50.31. This is the rate you will include in your agreement with your client.
*Keep in mind that cap rates are the maximum you can charge. You can certainly charge less that this (and many independent workers do) if this suits you and your clients.
If the total hourly cost of support exceeds NDIS cap rates, the client may not be able to pay you for your services. Make sure you consider all of the above when you are setting rates and making agreements with clients with NDIS funding. Once a timesheet is submitted and approved, no changes can be made to that timesheet.
